Features of Our Makaha Home Rentals

Tucked away near Oahu’s northwestern tip is the sunny seaside town of Makaha. This is the last of the island’s leeward towns before Farrington Highway ends at Ka’ena Point State Park, where the mountains and seaside cliffs become too rugged to be crossed by vehicle. Situated at the base of Mount Ka’ala, part of the Wai’anae Mountain Range, this area is home to beautiful beaches that have been frequented by Native Hawaiians for hundreds of years. Get away from the urban areas of Honolulu and Waikiki for an oceanside getaway in sunny Makaha at one of our Makaha vacation homes!

There will be plenty of space to enjoy yourselves as a family or group during your stay in one of our Makaha vacation homes. With all of the comforts of home, such as a full kitchen, spacious living area, and multiple bedrooms, it will be a breeze to ease into island life. Depending on which Makaha vacation home you choose, you will have access to amenities that will enhance your stay. Activities for Your Oahu Vacation

The island of Oahu has it all, from long, windswept beaches to a vibrant shopping and nightlife scene. With so much to offer on this beautiful island, the choice is yours as to whether you want to spend your time relaxing on a deserted beach, dancing the night away, or perhaps including a combination of both. From the sunny, white sand beaches of the west coast to the North Shore surf town of Haleiwa to the excitement of downtown Waikiki and Honolulu, a vacation in Oahu offers a variety of entertainment options.

You’ll no doubt want to spend some time in downtown Honolulu, browsing the surf shops and meandering along the famed Waikiki stretch. A great place to get a bird’s eye view of the area is from Diamond Head State Monument, which provides sweeping views along the coastline to Honolulu and Waikiki Beach. In fact, it offers such amazing views that it was formerly used as a military post for preventing attacks against the city. A trail meanders its way from the parking area up to the edge of a 300,000-year-old crater, where you’ll need one last burst of effort to continue up a steep flight of stairs to the viewing platform. Former military bunkers and a lighthouse build in 1917 provide additional historic interest at the peak. While the trail is just under a mile each way, the ascent of 560 feet may feel moderately strenuous to some hikers but with plenty of water and rest stops planned, it is still doable for most!

While the Honolulu area offers big-city excitement and nightlife, Oahu’s North Shore boasts a more laid-back surfing vibe filled with natural beauty. If visiting during the winter months, the North Shore sees huge waves – large enough that renowned big wave surf competitions are held on several of the island’s North Shore beaches. While this definitely isn’t the place to learn, watching advanced surfers here even when there’s not a competition is a sight to behold. Banzai Pipeline and Sunset Beach are two popular places to take in the big wave action. Follow that up with a stop in Haleiwa, a charming surf town and art hub.

On Oahu’s leeward side, you’ll find long stretches of white sand beaches and sunny skies, often even when it’s raining on the rest of the island. Makaha home rentals are the perfect welcome after exploring the island.
